Welp, Ive got this fascinating idea of building a pond and stocking it which im sure might not get to far when I start digging into the wallet. Anybody have any ideas on space for panfish and stocking verse oxygen and etc. I have 1 acre to build, is this even feasable under 5 grand ??
Stocking predominately fall run fish makes it seem worse, since we haven't experienced good consistent fall flows for a while. Noticed that Michigan's steelhead take has been reduced since covid, so not enough extra to go around to other states, including Ohio.
I dont Fish Alum Creek or any Central Ohio lakes, But they are stocking blue cats in lakes that i fish regularly & im excited about it, think its great option for people to go out & catch big fish that doesnt cost alot of money to fish for blue cats or any catfish & take there family along or small kids , Catfishing has exploded in popularity ...
Walleye stocking around here is an absolute joke. Even in the spring you need a boat to get em (one fish a week off 224 @ Berlin doesnt count) and even then mosquito and berlin are the only lakes worth trying.
Hybrid bluegill do not produce nearly enough forage to support even a low density stocking of largemouth bass. Option two is to go ahead and add the hybrid striped bass and ramp up feeding pellets.

They can grow considerably larger than a white bass and are more tolerant of Ohio’s warm water than striped bass.
