The VIZIO ( notice the bright lit up logo on the front of the set? any S's in it ? ) TV's you guys have use IR remotes. I think the feature you are thinking of only pertains to devices that use RF remotes. ( some satellite receivers for instance. ) To put it simply, both TVs use the exact same remote and IR code set to function.
I replaced my old Vizio Sound Bar (SB3820-C6) with a new one. I wanted to have an HDMI input for HDMI ARC, and a built in subwoofer. Instead of tossing the old one, I thought it I'd hang it in my garage to connect to my phone via Bluetooth to have music on while working on the car or whatever.
